Collecting Star Wars Collectables and Displaying them

People have been collecting Star Wars collectable and displaying them since the very beginning. The first figures to be release were to be Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and R2-D2. As people collected them, they naturally wanted to display them. There are just as many ways that a collection is displayed as there are collectors. This goes for all collectables.

History

Star Wars was released in 1977, Kenner was surprised and unprepared by the huge response to the film. Although Kenner was not prepared for the Christmas market, Kenner moved to sell an “Early Bird Certificate Package,” which included a club membership card, a sticker sheet, a cardboard backdrop, and a mail-in certificate towards the first four figures. In February 1978, people that registered with Kenner received the first figures. They came in a small white mailer boxes containing a white tray holding four bagged action figures including a Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, Chewbacca, and R2-D2, along with foot pegs and a backdrop. Some people received a Luke Skywalker with a double telescoping Lightsaber or Chewbacca with a green Bowcast. Although most people received the early Star Wars  action figures equipped with a one piece Lightsaber and a blue/black Bowcast.

Ever since then people started to display their collectable so they could enjoy them. As the figure, vehicle, and play sets selections expanded, so did peoples collections. There was a time you could go to the store and there were full sections of figures to choose from. Basically stores would have most of the available figures in stock regularly. Obviously the big problem was how many will my parents let me buy?

Today things are very different. If you are able to find any in the store, it most likely will be less than a dozen. Also half or more of those may be doubles or triples. It is almost a full-time job to find everything you are looking to buy. Still with extensive time you may not find what you are looking for. Especially for a price you are comfortable paying.

Collecting Star Wars Collectables

Ever since the beginning people have been collecting Star Wars collectable. There is something about the story that George Lucas wrote. People are able to relate and see hope, even when they do something wrong. Obviously it has to be a good story line as it has lasted for so long. Therefore people are able to associate with specific characters. Because of this people purchase specific figures more-so than others.

Figures are probably one of the most bought items. They can represent the characters that you like and they are easy to display. Action figures do not take up much room, especially the original 3 3/4″ ones. You are able to display one or you can certainly display more to reproduce your favorite scene. Acquiring new ones is great fun.
